Gonzaga Rugby, the number 1 ranked high school team in the United States, has confirm its 2016 tour to Spain with Varsity Sporting Events. The 9-nights tour will take place over the spring break and a party of more than 100 tour members is expected to attend. This will be the 12th international rugby tour that our company organizes for the Jesuit institution from Washington DC.
The group will depart on March 11th and will visit the cities of Barcelona and Valencia.The first game will take place in Barcelona on Sunday March 13th. The host club in the catalunyan capital Unió Sportiva Santboiana is the oldest rugby club of the country. A visit to the city of Manresa, where St Ignatius Loyola spent several months in a cave praying and practicing a rigorous asceticism, will also be included in the itinerary, as well as daily rugby practices on non-game days.
After a few days in Catalunya the team will travel south to the city of Valencia where the powerful CAU rugby team will be awaiting. This game will see the current age-grade champions of two countries facing each other. The game will take place on CAU’s main field on Wednesday March 16th. After what will surely be a tough rugby match, players, coaches, and parents will have the opportunity to enjoy the famous valencian Fallas Festival.
A third and last game is scheduled for Saturday March 19th and a couple of days after that the group will depart from Barcelona back home.
